About Us

Located in Board of Education District 6 and KCS Region 3, Carter Elementary School is a proud educational cornerstone in the Carter community of Knoxville. The historic original school opened in 1938 and served generations of families before a modern, energy-efficient facility rose in its place. The newly built school—completed and opened in 2013—offers 90,000 square feet of learning space designed for up to 650 students.

Carter Elementary School is deeply dedicated to fostering student excellence, both inside and outside the classroom, ensuring every child has the instruction, resources, and support needed to achieve their goals. The school equally values its team, promoting a workplace culture where teachers and staff are empowered and celebrated for their vital contributions.

At the heart of each day, the Hornets embrace the motto

"WE ARE CARTER!"
