School Counseling

Carter Elementary School offers a wide variety of counseling services. 

We have partnered with the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine’s HABIT (Human–Animal Bond in Tennessee) program. Through the Ruff Reading Program, medically and behaviorally screened dogs visit our school to support student learning and well-being.

The Ruff Reading Program provides students with a unique opportunity that fosters both academic growth and social–emotional development.

When you fill out a student referral form, our Carter Elementary counselor, Mrs. Thomas, will review submissions and move forward as quickly as possible.
